Description

The Future Internet is here, in Lisbon. Want to be one of the first to use it?

Have you heard about FIWARE?

If not, no worries - most people still don't know about it. FIWARE (the Future of Internet Ware) is a brand new platform that will basically completely change how we interact with the web. FIWARE is open, public and royalty-free. Its development was (and still is) supported by the European Commission (EC), and now the EC wants to speed-up its adoption rate.

That means there's a lot of money being invested into FIWARE. Which, in turn, means:

  • Grants for FIWARE startups;
  • Investment opportunities;
  • A huge and untapped market, since it's a revolutionary and completely new technology.

Because it's backed by the European Commission, we're expecting that the FIWARE implementation on our everyday stuff will be fairly quick. So now it's that right moment to learn everything there is to learn about FIWARE and launch businesses in this area: you can be the trend-setter, and have the first mover advantage that will allow you to reap all the benefits for being in the right spot with the right set of tools.

At the FIWARE Bootcamp + Startup Weekend, you will:

  • Learn how to program on the FIWARE platform
  • Find out untapped FIWARE biz opps (there's lots of them)
  • Launch a FIWARE startup in just 54h

We will give you the tools to shape your business idea, design it, validate it, prototype it and to pitch it like a pro. All this in just a few days.

Get ahead of the curve and learn about this disruptive technology. Plus, it will be Startup Weekend-style! What's not to love?

Other stuff to know:

1) On the last Startup Weekend Lisbon, the startup Popcorn Metrics was created. They went on to join Lisbon Challenge, were one of the finalists (thus received $$$), and got invested by Seedcamp.This could be you.

2) After Startup Weekend, you can apply for the Open Calls of SOUL-FI or one of the other 15 FIWARE accelerators that offer 80,000,000€, mentorship and networking for web-entrepreneurs and SMEs.

Learn about FIWARE before everyone else and build the NEXT BIG THING.

There’s limited seating and it’s first-come, first-served. Just grab your ticket above.

Prizes:

  • Project's Promotional Video sponsored by IPN
  • Arduino kits sponsored by IPN
  • Further Mentoring given by Beta-i and IPN Professionals
  • The opportunity to play the Global Startup Battle and be awarded with a roadtrip in the USA and many other perks.

More info on FIWARE:

About Startup Weekend: Startup Weekends are 54-hour events designed to provide superior experiential education for technical and non-technical entrepreneurs. Beginning with Friday night pitches and continuing through brainstorming, business plan development, and basic prototype creation, Startup Weekends culminate in Sunday night demos and presentations. Participants create working startups during the event and are able to collaborate with like-minded individuals outside of their daily networks. All teams hear talks by industry leaders and receive valuable feedback from local entrepreneurs. The weekend is centered around action, innovation, and education. Whether you are looking for feedback on a idea, a co-founder, specific skill sets, or a team to help you execute, Startup Weekends are the perfect environment in which to test your idea and take the first steps towards launching your own startup.

Terms of Participation Agreement: It is our job to provide you with an incredible networking and learning opportunity. Our intention is that you meet some amazing people that you might actually start a company with, build relationships with coaches, and learn from your peers. The event is intended to be a collaborative forum for sharing, learning, building, and having fun. As such, by registering as a participant, you acknowledge that any ideas shared by you or anyone else over the course of the event are contributions to the overall experience and community. If you as a participant are worried about someone stealing your ideas, please reconsider your participation in the event itself or simply refrain from sharing specifics about your idea.

As a member of your startup community, you agree to to be inclusive of any and all people and their ideas. You agree to act professionally, treat everyone with respect, and treat the event facilities with proper care. You agree that you are responsible for any accidents or damages that you cause. You also agree to not hold Startup Weekend, your local volunteer team, or any of the event supporters liable for any loss, damage, injury, or any other unforeseeable incident.
